Technical SEO Strategy: 6 Technical SEO Checklists to Improve Your Traffic

Hello and welcome to the technical SEO article.

If you've been looking around and trying to boost traffic to your website and want to go some extra mile to get some extra recognition from a Google search engine — you have come to the right place, which is a top digital marketing company in India.

If Google Ignores Your Website, Then You Probably May Need This SEO

It is true that most people focus on either on-page SEO or off-page SEO or even both. However, most people forget the third SEO, which is significant to show the roadmap for Google to find the content and let the readers find the right information they are looking for on the first page of the search engine as snippets.

Technical SEO Facilitates Two Things…

  • It allows search engines to crawl and index your website properly
  • It will also improve the user experience and user-friendliness of your website

Both of these two aspects will ensure an improved ranking on the search engine results page.

Let's look at some technical SEO checklists in the following:

1. Mobile Friendliness

If you want to know how your technical SEO is performing, then mobile-friendliness is a good place to start. In an increasingly mobile usage world, Google has made mobile-friendliness an important factor in technical SEO to rank websites better on search engine pages.

For this very reason, they have introduced a mobile-friendly test for the website owners to check whether their websites are doing enough for mobile users.

So, we have tested our website to see if it is mobile-friendly or not, and we found out that our website is mobile-friendly. If the website is not mobile-friendly then it will let you know what you should do to make it mobile-friendly.

The following is a screenshot of our website getting an encouraging result.

2. Sitemap

If you ask anyone how important a sitemap is, then they will tell you it is one of the most important factors in ranking your website on the search engine page.

It basically allows Google to find, crawl, and index your website. A sitemap lets Google know what the most important pages are on your website.

3. Website Speed

Website speed is the first impression that readers get from the website. If it is good, then readers are more likely to spend some time on your website, if not, they will close the website in a quick time.

Hence, make sure your website has a good loading speed so that it won’t deter your readers from opening your website again.

There are many websites to test your website speed on the internet, and you can use any of them. The following is our website’s report regarding the loading speed.

If you look at the report, it was quite informative.

It shows our website homepage, performance grade, page size, load time, and requests. It shows a D grade, which is not great. If you want to know the reasons behind the poor performance, then you can scroll down a bit and see what are the changes you can make. This way, you can improve the load time of your website and satisfy your users.

As you can see in the above image, there are multiple things that you can do such as reduce DNS lookups, make fewer HTTP requests, configuring entity tags, using cookie-free domains, and several others.

Additionally, it suggests the required action you can take to improve your performance once you click the down arrow button. Not only that, you can see the image below for further reporting to improve your load speed.

In short, here's a comprehensive guide to improve your load speed to score some points on the Google search engine. Perform a load speed test once in a while to improve the site speed as well as to provide a great user experience for the audience to come again and visit your website.

Next up is SSL…

4. SSL Certification

It stands for Secure Socket Layer. Basically, this certifies that this particular website is safe and secure to browse and make transactions. These days data security has become paramount; therefore, people are so worried about their data input. It also turns HTTP into HTTPS.

Looking at this, Google has made SSL certification one of the SEO factors to consider for all websites to rank on the Google search engine. If not, people are more likely to avoid your website based on data theft from unknown people.

Ensure that your website has an SSL certificate that can provide safe and secure transactions for payments and ensure a secure user experience on your website.

Assure your users that their usernames, passwords, and payments such as credit cards and debit card information details are safe. Give them the confidence that they need to enter their details on your website. This will not only boost the confidence of your users but also increase your rank on the Google search engine.

Keep in mind, some websites won’t even collaborate with you once they know your website is not a certified SSL website.

5. Dead Links and Redirects

This is one of the major problems among many websites. Dead links and redirects are a common issue, but you can minimize this issue using many tools.

All you have to do is find the dead links and remove them, and the same goes with the redirects. Redirect starts with 30x. If you have noticed the load speed section, you can see that there are 301 and 302 errors that the test has found.

So keep an eye on these errors and make corrections if you find any in the test because those errors will frustrate the audience on the website and make the audience not visit your website again in the future.

6. Internal Linking

Internal linking is another option in technical SEO to boost your ranking on the search engine. The noble thing about the internal linking structure is that it increases the page views, page sessions, giving additional information to the reader regarding the subject if he wants to know more in detail.

Internal linking happens only when you have so much content on your website so that you can link the articles from one page to another page easily. Plus, it is an added benefit to boost your SEO strategy as well as to increase the content on your website.

Final Thoughts

In summary, this is all about technical SEO that is needed to improve your ranking on the Google search engine results page.

The major reason behind this article is that technical SEO often gets overlooked by people when it comes to an overall SEO strategy. Technical SEO strategy makes as much impact as on-page SEO and off-page SEO strategies.

We often talk about off-page SEO and on-page SEO, but we seldom talk about technical SEO. Of course, this is partly because of awareness and knowledge. Even so, it is very important to have some insight regarding these issues.

If you notice my article, I have rarely talked about the nuances of technical SEO. All of these are pretty general issues when it comes to technical issues, yet so many of us do not know of these.

We all have faced those 404 errors, 301 errors, and 302 errors when we visit a particular website, don’t we? Hence, do not think this is some sort of technical jargon or issue that we are unaware of.

We all know these things, so try to make some effort and know all these things and talk to your developers regarding these issues and sort them out.

There you go, you have it.

Now, go ahead and implement these strategies on your website. If you think it is difficult, then you can always hire a top digital marketing company.

If you have made it this far, thank you for your time and effort.
